“Understanding Present Conditions regarding Radiation and
Radiation Exposure"
Around us everyday there are various kinds of equipment (medical
scanners, etc.) which utilize radiation. Most of us, in fact,
have little knowledge regarding natural radiation even in our
immediate environment, radiation emitted everyday by the earth
and from the distant cosmos.
Furthermore, there are also patients worldwide who suffer
from medical conditions caused by radiation from nuclear experiments
and/or accidents at nuclear power facilities.
By learning about these issues, this symposium aims to further
promote recognizing the importance of treating those who suffer
from radiation exposure, as well as to further general knowledge
within the Prefecture regarding HICARE’s international activities.
Program:
Dr. Satoru ENDO
Associate Professor at the Hiroshima University Research Institute for Radiation
Biology and Medicine

What is Radiation? How does it affect the human body? How,
and by what units, is it measured? A basic lecture designed
to increase general knowledge
Dr. Masaharu HOSHI
