HICARE sends medical students as interns to the IAEA to foster the next generation of human resources who understand the global significance and necessity of medical care for radiation-exposed individuals, and who will inherit and further develop the expertise in medical care for A-bomb survivors and the accumulated study results in Hiroshima.
This program has been in operation since 2013, based on the Practical Arrangements between IAEA and HICARE, signed on August 6, 2010, in the context of fostering cooperation in capacity building and joint research by making use of the expertise in medical care for those exposed to radiation.
HICARE dispatched the ninth medical student to IAEA as an intern.

Under the Practical Arrangement of HICARE and IAEA with the objectives for fostering cooperation in human resource development and joint research in the field of medical care of the radiation-exposed, this was the second time to send a medical student for such an internship after we dispatched a student in 2013 for three months.
