[Dr. Artzner]
Working as a doctor in emergency medical services, the HICARE training provided me with an opportunity to learn about accidental exposure to radiation and gain a good insight into this field. I was able to acquire very useful information on the evaluation of the severity of radiation exposure and the needs of the emergency medical services through this training. It was impressive to know that accurate estimation of the type and dose of radiation exposure is critical. Since I work in a hospital near Long Beach Airport and Los Angeles International Airport in California, where a terrorist attack using nuclear weapons could possibly occur, what I learned through this training is very important for me as an emergency medical doctor.

[Dr. Vournas]
I work as an emergency medical doctor in California. My hospital is currently making efforts to improve its disaster preparations. What I learned through this HICARE training will be useful to contribute to this effort. My father once visited Hiroshima in November 1945 and left a note describing the city in a state of devastation, along with some photographs. This time, I was so moved to see that Hiroshima has recovered completely from the state that he described in the note to become a lively modern city.
