Training Course:

Assessment of biological effects of radiation

Impressions:

Participation in the HICARE training program has provided me with a valuable opportunity to see how the people and government of Japan are addressing the medical and societal problems stemming from the atomic bombing. Furthermore, upon consideration of Chernobyl, we must realize that radiation accidents can occur at any time, anywhere, regardless of peace or war. I believe it is thus essential for countries to prepare to respond to this sort of situation quickly, managing the subsequent recovery via international cooperation programs such as that carried out by HICARE.

Medical activities in Korea:

I am currently studying issues related to metabolic disease, including both obesity and diabetes. My research topics: 1) How can we can improve leptin resistance; 2) What environmental factors affect body weight regulation; 3) What genetic factors induce obesity.
